• Andy Werner

    FOUNDER

    Andy received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Chicago. Since then he has taught at Yale University and Amherst College (his alma mater). Recently, he moved back to his hometown of Houston to be with family; while in Houston, he founded Adventures in Thinking. In addition to working at AT, he teaches dual credit courses to high school students through Houston Community College. He has helped teach philosophy to debate students and debate coaches in his summers at the Texas Debate Collective.

  • Kris Wright

    BOARD MEMBER

    Kris is a teacher at the Director of Debate for Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School in Dallas. This past year he was awarded the Teacher of the Year award at Irma Rangel for his commitment to his students’ excellence. He has taught high school debate for more than two decades. He has a degree in Philosophy and a master’s in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Texas. He is also the co-founder of the Texas Debate Collective.

  • Nic Koziolek

    PHILOSOPHY CLUB LEADER

    Nic is a lecturer in Philosophy at Washington University. He received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Chicago. He has a broad understanding of what falls into the discipline of philosophy, and is excited to work with students interested in any branch of philosophy.

  • Alli Aldridge

    PHILOSOPHY CLUB LEADER

    Alli studies philosophy at St. Louis University, Barcelona. They specialize in philosophy for high school debate, and are currently leading a philosophy club on different philosophers and how to apply them in debate (e.g., Hobbes, Levinas, Plato).

  • Shana Crandell

    PHILOSOPHY CLUB LEADER

    Shana has her PhD in philosophy from the University of Chicago, where she worked on practical philosophy with a focus on Adam Smith and Hegel. She is currently teaching philosophy at the University of Rhode Island and at Rhode Island College. In her spare time, she helps the community in her area organize to fight for affordable housing.
